Situated in the familiar context of their campus, the introductory assignment is an opportunity for the students to get familiar with the way the studio is structured for the rest of the semester. It has two short components, one is related to mapping and the other deals with speculative design thinking. The assignment is situated at the campus scale. Students are required to investigate their campus through the lense of water and situate their interpretation through subjective cartographies. Based on their readings of the campus, they are encouraged to exercise their intuition and imagination to speculate new realities or provocations related to water within and around the campus.
