With a shift in scale from that of the campus to the city, the second assignment focuses on analytic and projective cartographies illustrating the relationship of the city of Ahmedabad with the many natures and scales of water that flow within and away from it. Gathering evidence through site readings, conversations and literature students investigate and illustrate the different ways in which the city procures, stores, distributes discharges and engages water.
Each student and/ or team of students tackles their analytic map through different media of visualization. In addition to factual illustrations, this assignment welcomes subjective cartographies as new ways to position and express polemical facts or concerns. The assignment is also a way to center their design inquiries as they enter the second half of the semester.
